Referrals

The Wayne County Volunteer Guardianship Association accepts ongoing referrals for those in need of a legal guardian. The prospective “ward” must meet the following requirements as established by the WCVGA:

• Over the age of 18
• Resides in Wayne County
• Resides in an institutional or residential facility
• Unable to manage, care, or advocate for himself/herself; at risk for being exploited, neglecting responsibilities, making inappropriate decisions, etc; may be at risk from a health and safety standpoint

Volunteer guardians will serve as “Guardian of Person” only. Those prospective wards that possess financial assets will be referred to an attorney or will receive a Court-appointed attorney to serve as “Guardian of Person and/or Estate.”
